Scope
This privacy policy applies to the ClipBoardy website and the ClipBoardy macOS app. It explains what information is handled, why it is handled, and what is deliberately not collected.
Personal Information
ClipBoardy does not collect personal information from the macOS app. The app is not built around accounts, cloud sync, advertising, or user tracking.
If you contact the developer for support or feedback, you may choose to provide your name, email address, message, screenshots, or other details. That information is used to respond to your request and help improve ClipBoardy.
Data Storage
ClipBoardy is a local-first clipboard manager. Clipboard history, including text, links, code, images, files, and secure snippets, is stored locally on your Mac.
The app does not upload your clipboard history to ClipBoardy, Tristan Jarrett, or any cloud service operated by ClipBoardy. It does not include app analytics, advertising trackers, or monitoring that reports what you copy.
Secure items are designed for sensitive clips and can be protected with a password or biometric authentication where supported by macOS.
Retention and Deletion
Clipboard history stays on your Mac until it is removed by ClipBoardy's history controls, storage management, app settings, or by deleting the app and its local data.
Support messages are kept only as long as needed to reply, maintain reasonable records, and improve ClipBoardy.
macOS Permissions
ClipBoardy may request macOS permissions only where they are needed for clipboard-manager features, such as reading clipboard changes or pasting selected history items back into other apps.
If a permission is not granted, the related feature may be limited, but ClipBoardy will not use that permission to monitor unrelated activity or send your clipboard history anywhere.
Internet Connection
ClipBoardy does not require an internet connection to store or search clipboard history. It is distributed through the Mac App Store, so purchases, downloads, and app updates are handled by Apple.
The app does not contact ClipBoardy servers to sync clipboard history, send analytics, or report the contents of what you copy.
Website Analytics
This website uses Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic and performance, such as visited pages, referrers, device type, browser, operating system, and approximate location.
Vercel Analytics stores anonymized data and does not use cookies. Vercel identifies visitors with a short-lived hash rather than a persistent tracking cookie, so visitors cannot be tracked across different days or different websites through Vercel Analytics.
Support Interactions
Support currently points to Tristan Jarrett's contact page. Information sent there is handled for the purpose of replying to your message.
If troubleshooting requires extra information, you may be asked to provide details such as your macOS version, ClipBoardy version, or a description of the issue. You should not send sensitive clipboard contents unless you choose to include them.
Third-Party Services
ClipBoardy is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple may process purchase, download, crash, or account-related information under Apple's own privacy practices.
This website is hosted on Vercel and uses Vercel Analytics. Vercel may process technical data needed to deliver, secure, and measure the website.
Data Sharing
ClipBoardy does not sell personal data. The Mac app does not share clipboard history with the developer, analytics providers, advertisers, or third-party data brokers.
Website analytics data is processed through Vercel in aggregate so the site can be improved and kept reliable.
Security
ClipBoardy is designed to reduce unnecessary data movement by keeping clipboard history on your Mac. No system can guarantee perfect security, but the app avoids cloud collection because the safest clipboard data is the clipboard data that never leaves your device.
Updates
This policy may change as ClipBoardy or the website changes. Updates will be posted on this page with a new last-updated date.
Contact
Questions, privacy concerns, or support requests can be sent through the Contact Developer page.
